I never thought I would write these words. I am an award nominee. Me?! And better yet, I am one for photography. I’ve written before about my passion for photography and to be nominated feels like a dream. To see my name next to the other nominees is definitely a good feeling, and certainly helps with imposter syndrome (a bit).
I am writing this little post as an update to what is going on with Wandering Helene and to thank all of you for supporting this blog and all of my efforts. Every single time you click on this blog, share a post, comment on something I am filled with joy that others want to connect with me and my creations. It’s comforting to know when I post something here I am not the only one reading it.
The award I am nominated for is Best Photography Piece and it is hosted by Traverse. Traverse is a marketing agency who helps connect brands and agencies to influencers. They also run a yearly conference and other events for bloggers, Instagrammers, YouTubers, etc. with workshops, panels, and other events. This year they decided to have the Traverse Creator Awards.
The Traverse Creator Awards are unlike a lot of awards which involve public voting. Instead, they have an expert judging panel and their awards cover things like best blog design, best collaboration, best vlog, innovation award, and of course best photography piece.
I have three articles which are examples of my work for my nomination. The first one is Two Days in Triglav National Park where I shared photos and videos of an epic trip we took hiking to the Triglav Lakes. Next A Snow Day in Pokljuka, Slovenia when Jaka and I went searching for snow in the Alps. The final one is Participating in Food Rituals in Bologna, Italy where I share an incredibly gluttonous weekend.
I have never attended a blogging conference before so I am really looking forward to the trip. Also because I will be joined by my dear friend Dani from Travelling Jezebel who I haven’t seen in too long. There will be a lot to see and do in Trento (Italy) where the conference is taking place. I’m really looking forward to meeting a lot of people in-person for the first time and to soak up every bit of information possible from my time there.
Travel has been a bit minimal for the past 6 months or so because honestly, I am not a fan of winter or being cold so I stay home. I’m looking forward to almost two weeks of travel in Italy, exploring Trentino for a week and then traveling with Dani for a bit.
If you are attending the conference and would like to meet up, let me know in the comments! I’m so excited to meet everyone that I have been reading or speaking with online. I will be updating all of my social networks throughout the conference so if you are interested in what happens at an event like this follow my Instagram and Twitter for behind the scenes. -Helene
Congratulations.
Thank you!
