A Restaurant Guide to Lunch in Ljubljana

Many lunch places in Ljubljana open their doors between 11:00 and 12:00. No need for reservations, but do be mindful around peak-lunchtime some places can fill up.

There are two words used in Slovene when speaking about lunch and they are malica and kosilo. The meanings can be very confusing and change with the setting, but for the context of menus and restaurants they refer to lunch. Often times malica will be used with a set 3-course lunch menu consisting of soup, main dish, and dessert.

Bife

Bife is a relatively new place in Ljubljana that serves salad bowls. The menu also offers a rice or quinoa bowl, customized options, and soup. I always order one of the prepared dishes as I think the combinations of ingredients and dressings are perfect.

My personal favorite is tied between Verde Pa Mir (salad bowl with kale, spinach, avocado, lentils and more) and Mad Mex (rice bowl with chicken and avocado, beans, and tortilla chips!)

Every time I go to Abi Falafel I want to try something different on the menu because it all looks super amazing but I always go with the special falafel wrap. I have not once finished one of my wraps from here yet.
